The annual collaborative printmaking project (the Littlest Print Exchange) is in its fourth year now. A few months ago, it was decided that the project should branch out to include photographic prints more prominently. To that end, an LPE side project called Fixed Focus, an open exchange of photography, was proposed. It is a pretty simple project. Each participating artist sends in an edition of 16 identical photos and, in return, receives a random portfolio consisting of photos by the other participants.

So if you want to participate, just make sixteen 4"x5" horizontal photos and send them to Chris by January 30th. Make sure to include your name and address, along with a website address so you can receive proper credit. The prints will be sorted out and sent back out to you in a nice package by the end of February. All of the sorted details are available at the official Fixed Focus Website. Starting next week, the Littlest Print Exchange 2011 will be hanging on the walls of the world famous Moosewood Restaurant in Ithaca, New York. LPE participant, Rebecca Godin was nice enough to piggyback a showing of the 2010 portfolio onto an exhibition she curated, Elemental: Fire, Water, Air & Earth, at the Community School of Music and Arts. If you happen to be in the Ithaca area you should stop in and check out both shows.

All the 2011 editions have arrived. We spent a couple of days collating them into boxes. Everything should be shipped out early next week. Keep an eye out for an update to the 2011 gallery in a couple of weeks and a call for submissions for the next exchange soon after that.

A few photos of the New Cliche Portfolio have turned up on the facebook page of Gallery 1010, a Knoxville, Tennessee art gallery that hosted an exhibition of the exchange thanks to the efforts of contributor, Leslie Grossman. It looks like it was a nice showing. We especially like the addition of the magnifying glass.

A second showing of the 2010 Littlest Print Exchange portfolio will open January 21st at Cram Gallery, Canada's smallest art gallery and home to 2010 LPE participants, Tobey C. Anderson and Jose Armando Medina.

A few exhibitions of the 2010 portfolio are being planned throughout 2011. The first of these will open around January 11th at Sparkbox Studio, organized by Chrissy Poitras. Sparkbox is an artist-run studio offering tons of workshops, classes, programs and events for both new and established artists. Be sure to check out the Sparkbox website for tons of great resources on the business of art for emerging artists.

The completed portfolio for 2010 was shipped out today and should be arriving at the doorsteps of our participants soon. A gallery of all the prints is now available for viewing. Graciously, a bunch of artists sent a few extra prints or artist's proofs. Those prints are available in very, very limited quantities for the ridiculously low price of only six dollars, postage paid, in the Littlest Print Exchange Store.
